What is Comfort Bears in a Catastrophe?

Comfort Bears in a Catastrophe is a national nonprofit dedicated to bringing comfort and hope to children impacted by disasters. Disasters can be traumatizing for anyone, but for children, they can be especially overwhelming and frightening. Through the gift of a teddy bear and an encouraging card, we help children feel supported and loved during some of the most challenging moments in their lives.

Each card attached to our Comfort Bears provides access to 24/7 free professional counseling, ensuring children and families have the emotional support they need. In addition, we offer free children’s disaster preparedness resources in the community, equipping children with lifesaving, age-appropriate knowledge.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, (Tax ID: 93-4745441), all contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. This means your contribution not only makes a difference to the children we serve, but can also benefit you come tax season.

Comfort Bears in a Catastrophe is proud to partner with the Disaster Distress Helpline to assist families and children we serve in accessing 24/7 FREE counseling support after a disaster. Each child who receives a Comfort Bear from us also gets this information.

CALIFORNIA FIRES

We're hosting a Virtual Donation Drive to bring comfort and hope to children impacted by this disaster. Every donation helps us provide teddy bears and heartfelt cards to children who need a little extra love during this difficult time.

We’ve also teamed up with Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers, Paradise Valley City Lifestyle and Famous 48 to support children impacted by the California wildfires with an in-person donation drive. Drop off a stuffed animal at one of these locations to help bring comfort to children impacted by the fires!
